Milton Keynes Olympic Tri – 26 Jul 2009

The location of the hotel was 20 mins from the park and I registered early on the Saturday. Although now I wonder why as I still had to get the timing chip on the day of the event. I racked the bike and got ready for racing! Although I forgot to put on my heart rate monitor to view on the bike stage.

 Swim

The swim was a bit of a zig zag course and maybe at times I appeared lost from boy to boy. I’m sure my swim time was affected but the time recorded was not bad when compared with other members of fvs. Although I still haven’t posted a good time in an olympic compared with my sprint distance races.

The transtion t1 was slower than expected and I can put that down to my exit from my suit. It has some velcro that goes over the zip and I always forget about it.

Bike

I felt I had a good race it is a bit flat and at times I felt I could have been putting in more efforts. It’s always hard when riders with discs go past and you hear the va va voom sound. I think I need to increase my power output on the flat as my hill climbs seem comfortable. After the 2 laps it was back to T2 and as always a mistake. The need to take off the helmet is a key point as I’m sure it would not help on the run.

Run

The run was a struggle again I suffered with tightness in the hamstring on my left leg. This caused me to take it easy to ensure I completed the run. The run on MK is good and not too many dodgy places to cause injury.

 Overall View

Although this was my first MK race I was quickest out of FVS runners and now can take a week off to be fresh for London. A good marker has been set for future races.
